Marie Goulet

Marie Goulet

Born on Salt Spring Island in 1997, and raised in Quebec and the Gulf Islands, Marie Goulet is now a young artist living in Vancouver. Settled in the city in 2013 with her father and older brother, she is attending her last years of secondary school. When possible, Marie visits her mother and younger siblings on Cortes Island, and spends holidays with them. With three brothers and two sisters, she finds much inspiration from her family, especially her mother who is an artist also.

Marie’s style is simple, strange, surreal, and sometimes, a little unusual. Emotions fascinate and inspire her work, and she often feels artistically motivated when too much is on her mind. Her work reflects the struggles and obstacles in her past, as well, the peculiarity and appearance in the inhabitants of Vancouver. Artists that inspire her work include Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso,Yves Saint Laurent, Coco Chanel, and Valentino.

Her vision is to create fashion, style, design, and art that displays her unique perspective on life. To establish her own portfolio, and to expose her work to a larger audience, Marie has set up her own art blog www.peculiarperspectivefacade.wordpress.com, where she hopes to gain experience and criticism from other artists. After graduation from high school, Marie’s dream is to study fashion design and art at Emily Carr University of Art and Design.
